The Will To Win
A friend called me during the weekend to congratulate me and also to ask why I choose to co-author a book with Brian Tracy, here what I told him:
I like Brian Tracy, I like his story (don’t we all have our stories?), I have read his books but more importantly, I was fortunate to watch a video of him on YouTube last year that helped me make up my mind. I would suggest you watch the video too and take your own lessons from it – The video is titled: “Success is a Journey” Here are my three takeaways from the video:
1. Anytime you want to try something new, there would always be naysayers on hand to tell how it cannot be done or why it has never been done – Don’t listen to them – Do your own thing, if you fail in the process take the lesson(s) and soldier on.
2. We have different things that motivate us, as crazy as it sounds, those young men (including Brian) wanted to prove to themselves and their friends that they could cross the Sahara Desert (they did, hence the video of the speech, Brian lived to tell the tale). So my question to you, what motivates you…?
3. I love the brand association: Brian Tracy is an authority in the Sales & Productivity space – I have been in the selling space myself for over 25 years now, why not partner with someone that is considered a guru?
have always struggled with procrastination (I just want things to be perfect), naturally it took “forever” to reach a decision about writing a book, however, when this opportunity came up, I jumped at and I literally “ate that frog” (don’t worry I don’t eat frogs but if you must know one of Brian’s popular book is called “Eat That Frog”) that how I got where I am today (adding amongst other things the title Author to my name).
I have a story to tell and I want to leave something more endearing behind for my children and the world and what better way to capture it than to put it in a book. I know you have your own story, what are you going to do about it? If you don’t get anything in this post – Just remember to watch the YouTube video “Success is a Journey” – This is part of my own journey, what is yours?
